Get off the beaten path in Trondheim, Norway

“If you travel to Norway, be sure to stop in the third largest city, Trondheim. There is a breath-taking train (about 6 hrs; every minute is beautiful) from Oslo, or Gardermoen Airport in Oslo to Trondheim. Trondheim is walkable w/ lots to do both on land and on the water (all sorts of water tours). I was surprised to find a ‘Deaf Museum’ in Trondheim, a tiny place, with a helpful staff. You will want to stay at the Bakeriet Hotel at Brattorgata 2. In the 19th century it was a bakery! Good location. Close to the train station and to the city center. Helpful staff. Nice rooms.

And here is the biggest surprise: not only is there free sumptuous breakfast, but there is also free dinner! Since Norway is expensive, this was a most welcome bonus.”
