JourneyWoman Circle Community Forum Rules

This community has been over 25 years in the making. It is credible because of its relevance and your active participation. Give and take. Mentor and help others. Invite your friends. Be silly. Have fun! It requires your participation, so if we want a vibrant group everyone needs to participate and engage in discussions on a regular basis.

This group is a chance for everyone to mentor, teach and learn from each other. It’s also an opportunity to broaden our perspectives and participate in discussions with an open mindset. You are solely responsible for the content you share. We ask that you please don’t talk politics. Posts that spread misinformation will be deleted. Political commentary, spam and irrelevant links will not be supported or encouraged.

We want women to share their tips and advice on women-friendly tour operators, retreats, guides, accommodations and products. However, we would like this to be an advertising-free zone. If you would like to advertise your home for rent to other women, please do not do it here. We will have a safe place for that soon. If you own a travel or tourism business, please do not promote it here.  We do have many ways to advertise your business on our site; the Forum is not the place for it. Posts that advertise will be removed.

From time to time, the Admins may pose questions to inform or inspire relevant editorial for Journeywoman.com, like tips. If we use your response, we will say so on the post or contact you for permission.

Travel With Partner Section / MeetUp with Women Section

A key aspect of the new JourneyWoman Community Forum is to help members connect with like-minded travel partners. Please use common sense when interacting with each other, particularly in the Travel With Partner section.

Please exercise pragmatic caution when interacting with other members on the Site or outside the Site having made initial contact through JourneyWoman. We recommend you NOT publicly share your home address, phone number or any location-specific details aside from city and country when connecting with women. Before meeting in person with any other member and/or making any travel plans, you should first make voice or video contact. You should try to meet face-to-face in a public venue before finalizing any travel arrangements.

If you choose to meet or travel with other women, it is up to you to verify their vaccination status. We do not take any responsibility for this unless we are organizing a special JourneyWoman event, in which case vaccination will be required of all participants.

If you have any complaints about the conduct of other JourneyWoman members or evident misrepresentations they have made to you that you feel affect your personal safety or potentially the safety of other members, please send an email or screenshot immediately to support@journeywoman.com. We will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.

Thank you for joining and feel free to contact me at any time with ideas and suggestions to improve this Forum.  This is all for you!

Our Commitment to Privacy

Q. What do you do with my personal information, such as name, email and address?

A.  We do not share or sell your personal information to anyone. Period.

Q. Why do you need me to agree to your Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for the website?

A.  You can read our Privacy Agreement, which outlines our commitment to keeping your information secure, here: journeywoman.com/privacy-policy/.

You can read our Terms of Use HERE.  This is important because in using our site, you will have access to certain sections of our website, and will be able to post comments and share information within a private forum.  We want to ensure that all dialogue on our site is respectful, constructive and helpful to other women.

Q. How are you protecting our privacy?

A .  Like many of you, we have concerns about privacy and information sharing on public social platforms. Even though we are active on social media, we do not OWN our own information when it is produced on platforms like Facebook. Our intention is to create a protected space where you can interact with each other in confidence, knowing that we are NOT tracking or selling your private information.  Our only interest is your safety and well-being. If you want to learn more about the technology and privacy processes we’ve put in place to protect our website, read our Privacy Policy.

Q. Do you keep or store my credit card information on the site?

A. NO. JourneyWoman does not store or keep your financial information; it is being used by Stripe, which is a reputable third-party credit card processing platform. We have included links to Stripe’s privacy policy that you can read when you enter your credit card information.

Q. How long will it take to receive a phone call to verify my identity?

A. We will try to call you as quickly as possible, within 3 days, generally during normal working hours. If you haven’t received a call in a timely manner please email info@journeywoman.com

Q. What technology have  you put in place to ensure privacy and security?

A. The JourneyWoman site follows industry best practices for security. Our site is hosted on WPEngine, an enterprise-level WordPress host that is committed to site security. (WPEngine is a leading WordPress hosting company used by over500,000 websites). As part of our hosting plan they provide:

  • A secured environment with disk write limitations and protection
  • Scans and automatic disabling for plugins with security flaws (a plugin is a software component that adds a specific feature to an existing computer program. An example of this is our calendar).
  • A proprietary firewall that monitors for incoming threats
  • A segregated environment that isolates our customers data and protects it against unauthorized access
  • Bundled SSL certificates on all plans (SSL is Secure Sockets Layer and, in short, it’s the standard technology for keeping an internet connection secure and safeguarding any sensitive data that is being sent between two systems, preventing criminals from reading and modifying any information transferred, including potential personal details)
  • Automatic updates of core software
  • Automatic updates of plugins
  • Daily backups

In addition, we have MalCare security performing daily virus and malware scans and have enforced secure passwords for administrative accounts.
