Ethics in Animal Tourism: Reshaping the ‘Bucket List’

Thursday, May 13, 2021, 8 pm EDT

Join animal tourism expert Nora Livingstone, CEO, Animal Experiences International and JW Publisher Carolyn Ray for an interactive Q&A on animal tourism. We’ll share some basic guidelines for us on what to do – or not do – so that we’re more informed when we start traveling again.  In anticipation of the session, here are some questions for you to consider:

  1. Have you ever had an animal experience in your travelling past that you now regret and why?
  2. If you could work or volunteer with any animal, what would it be and why?
  3. What is the best impromptu, authentic experience you’ve ever had with an animal in the wild?
  4. Is there a trip or an animal experience that you are evaluating right now?

Pay What You Can

We want to keep our webinar sessions open to everyone by using a Pay-What-You-Can model for all of our events. it’s up to you: you can choose ‘0” or you can consider paying what you can to help us cover our speaker’s time and costs associated with Zoom.  As thanks, we’ll make a donation to a charity of our speaker’s choice, which is Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand. “Without their volunteers, their 800 animals are in jeopardy. I first met them in 2008 and they have been partners of AEI since 2011. They do incredible rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary work for all creatures of Thailand and right now they need our urgent help.”  You can read more about this non-profit organization here.

This event will be held on zoom with a capacity of 100 people. It will be recorded and shared on our website and YouTube afterward. This will be our fifth #TravelReady event in 2021, we will then be on a pause as we transition to a new events system in the summer. Thank you!
