It’s time to reframe how women think and talk about wealth

There’s no question that the past few months have been a bumpy ride, with many women wondering what the future holds. Not only are women living longer than ever before, many may outlive their savings or investments. For those who want to travel, this presents new challenges. Our May JourneyWoman Pulse survey shows that 77 per cent of women expect travel costs to increase and are putting new strategies into place, from reducing travel spending to taking shorter trips.

But what if there are other ways to proactively manage and adapt to these changes? What if you could stop paying more tax than you need to and keep more money in your pocket? Or turn your existing assets into income?

According to Daniela DeGasperis, the biggest mistake women can make is avoiding financial decisions altogether. As the CEO of DDM Group, a wealth preservation consultancy based in Toronto, Ontario, Daniela leads a team of industry experts to help women protect and grow their wealth today to reach their financial and lifestyle goals into the future.

“Women in particular often defer to male partners or family members for financial decision-making, leaving them vulnerable in divorce or widowhood,” DeGasperis says. “Data shows that women may also tend to be more ‘risk adverse’, leading them to invest in areas that are commonly described as ‘safe’.  This limits long-term investment growth, creating a different sort of risk. There can also be a lot of shame around not knowing financial basics, which can lead to avoidance. That’s why we prioritize education and financial literacy in our work with clients.”

What you’ll learn

In this webinar, you’ll gain a new perspective on wealth planning and feel empowered to talk about money and preserve your wealth. Come with all of your questions or send them in advance when you register.

“Retirement is about living life on your own terms,” DeGasperis says. “It’s having a plan in place that gives you freedom of choice. You get to decide if and how you want to work and travel. Retirement should be when you have cash flow without high taxes, so you can have peace of mind knowing you are building an income you can’t outlive and a plan for leaving a legacy for the next generation.”

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Daniela DeGasperis is known for her enthusiasm and commitment to impacting her community. In the spring of 2020, Daniela founded DDM Group as a result of her own experiences navigating the financial landscape. Despite her desire for financial guidance, Daniela was disappointed in the range of resources and support offered by larger institutions. Daniela’s experience inspired her to develop a network of industry experts with the knowledge and communication skills to provide superior service in counseling others on how to reach their financial and lifestyle goals.
