Survey Update: What you Said

We’re in awe and full of gratitude to the 1,500+ JourneyWomen who responded to our recent survey, which closed on June 1. Thank you! If there is one thing we know as travellers, it’s that we are constantly balancing risk and reward. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated this in ways that will redefine how we travel for years to come.

We’ve been working through your incredibly valuable feedback and have uncovered some themes that we think deserve a deeper conversation. Your insights will help us develop inspiring and practical content and services that are relevant and helpful to you in this time, and ensure the voices of women travellers, of JourneyWomen, are heard loud and clear as the travel industry enters a time of transition.

This survey is intended to achieve two goals:

1) Help us develop inspiring and practical content and services that are relevant and helpful to you in this time and;

2) Ensure the voices of women travellers, of JourneyWomen, are heard, as influencers in the travel industry.

 Small-Group Sessions Week of June 22

We’d like to share what we’ve heard so far with you and explore some topics in more detail. Online surveys give us some information, but they don’t tell the whole story.

There are three topics; please choose ONE that you are most passionate about! We’ve varied the times so that you can join one that suits your schedule. If you cannot make your session please cancel so that someone else can join. Each session will have a maximum of 20 women. You will receive a confirmation after registering. If you do not receive a confirmation it is only because we have reached capacity.

Your privacy is very important to us. We’re asking that you keep these discussions confidential until we share everything with the rest of our community. We will be recording them, but we won’t be sharing these sessions. They’re just for us. We will not share your comments without your permission, and if we do so, it will be first name, city/country only.  Our Privacy Policy is at the bottom of this page if you want to read more about why privacy is so important to us.

Please join only ONE session.

Session 1: Redefining Women’s Safety Criteria for Travel

The concept of and criteria for Safety has been redefined and expanded. Even now, we are uncertain about the safety of travelling within our own country. We’d like to get your thoughts on how you think of safety, why certain criteria rose to the top, what your expectations are, and who we trust to give us accurate information about safety.

 Session 2: Rebuilding Reputation in the Travel Industry

Our survey revealed that the reputation of countries, airlines and insurance companies has suffered during COVID-19. Despite recent attempts to introduce hygiene and cleaning programs, hotels did not fare well either.  What are your expectations of businesses in the travel industry? How important is reputation to you in making travel decisions, and what things factor into it?

 Session 3: Has our ‘Bucket List’ Changed, and why? Which Destinations Rose to the Top

In our study, we asked what your preferred destination would be outside of your home country. Our survey revealed that the majority of preferred destinations, at least in the short-term, are in North America and Europe. Only New Zealand scored (at #11) in the top 20 outside these traditional favorites. 82% said China was not in their consideration set. Has your bucket list changed? What is your risk tolerance for unfamiliar destinations?
