Greether connects travellers to female Greeters for safer solo travel
by JourneyWoman staff
JourneyWoman, the world’s first website for solo female travel, and Greether, an innovative female travel company, are joining forces to help women travel safely around the world. As the newest member of JourneyWoman’s Solo Travel Concierge service, Greether connects women travellers with local verified female guides, or “Greeters”, on the ground in more than 100 countries around the world. Greeters are a mix of a friend, tour guide, and concierge, providing companionship and personalized tours.
“Greether offers solo women a little extra reassurance when travelling, while providing local women with additional income to showcase their own knowledge,” said Carolyn Ray, CEO, JourneyWoman. “On a recent trip to Amsterdam for my daughter’s birthday, we met with a local Greeter on our first morning to get an insider’s view on the city, allowing us to deepen our travel experience. She showed us local coffee houses, restaurants, shopping, museums and gave us tips on how to use public transportation.”
Greether is an award-winning travel company with a mission to help women travel safer by connecting female identified travelers with verified, local women Greeters, who can be booked to explore destinations. With a fast-growing community spanning over 100 countries and 1,000+ cities, Greether has established itself as a go-to platform for adventurous women worldwide. Greether also invites women passionate about their hometowns to apply to become guides here.
“Both Greether and JourneyWoman share a commitment to empowering women in travel, prioritizing safety, social impact, purpose, and authentic experiences,” says Vanessa Karel, CEO and Founder, Greether. “This partnership represents a step forward in promoting responsible tourism, supporting local women and inspiring female travellers to explore the world confidently.”
Pricing varies based on location, group size, and tour duration. For example, a 2.5-hour Greeter tour in Istanbul costs $75 USD, while a similar experience in Seoul is $80 USD, and in Paris, it’s $95 USD. Once a booking is confirmed, Greether matches travelers with a Greeter before their trip, ensuring a tailored, authentic experience. As part of the partnership, JourneyWoman members can access exclusive discounts, including a 15% savings on all Greether bookings using the code JOURNEYWOMAN. Click here to find a local Greether.
As part of JourneyWoman’s Women’s Travel Directory, the Solo Travel Concierge service connects women with personalized resources and experts, including travel coaches, travel advisors, custom tour operators and local guides. Complete the online form here to get started.
How Greether works
When a traveller is ready to embark on a journey, she can search for available Greeters at www.greether.com. Booking a Greeter is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
Step One: Search and select:
Choose your destination, number of travellers, and tour length to see pricing. Pricing is adjusted based on these variables. For example, a 2.5-hour Greeter tour in Istanbul costs $75 USD, while a similar experience in Seoul begins at $80 USD, and in Paris, it’s $95 USD.
As part of this partnership, JourneyWoman members can access exclusive discounts, including a 15% savings using the code JOURNEYWOMAN.
Step Two: Personalize your adventure
You make your own rules! After selecting a date for your experience, choose a meetup spot (for example, outside your hotel) and share your interests with us. The more we know about you and what you’d like to do, the better we can match you with a Greeter and ensure they recommend the best plans.
Step Three: Pay securely and verify
Book your Greeter and complete your profile. Use code: JOURNEYWOMAN for a special discount! Greether ensures safety with secure ID verification, matching government-issued IDs with profile photos. No ID details are stored, and all information is redacted after verification. Learn more in Greether’s Privacy Terms.
Both the guest and Greeter must undergo an identity verification requirement using government-issued identification (Greether implements a secure ID verification process, cross-checking government-issued IDs with profile photos to ensure the safety of all users. Government ID information is not retained, and details are carefully redacted following verification. More information can be found in Greether’s Privacy Terms). Guests and Greeters are matched before your trip begins through the Greether platform and a Whatsapp group to your Greeter (Download WhatsApp here).
Greether recommends booking at least 2 weeks in advance for the best experience. Bookings within 4 business days are possible, but booking early increases your chances of being matched quickly with a Greeter to provide tips and recommendations for your trip.
