Practical advice for women to stay safe at home and abroad

While we all love travel, it’s important to remember that cybercriminals are waiting to take advantage of those who fail to protect themselves. From fake Wi-Fi spots in hotels to remote Bluetooth connections, device charging and storage at airports, it’s important to plan ahead and know the risks before we travel. Even leaving a laptop in an empty hotel room can leave us open to exploitation.

This month in our webinar series, we turn our focus to women’s safety, both online and off. Joining us is Paige Hanson, an expert on consumer and digital safety, and Tracey Breeden, a women’s safety advocate who has set up safety programs at Uber and Match and now runs her own firm, Disrupt the Landing. Tracey is also on our JourneyWoman Women’s Advisory Council.

As always, participants are welcome to share their experiences and ask questions.

Webinar date: Tuesday, November 19, 2024

When: 7 pm EST (check local time zones here)

Where: Zoom! Sign up below for the link. Capacity is 100 women. The session will be recorded and shared on our YouTube channel for those who can’t join us.

“Cybersecurity includes everything from identity theft to romance scams, and can have a detrimental effect on women’s safety,” said Paige Hanson. “Of particular concern is identity theft, which is expected to increase significantly this year. By partnering with JourneyWoman, I hope we can share some very simple ways women can take control of their online safety.” — Paige Hanson
