Named one of the most influential women in travel by TravelPulse in March 2023, Carolyn Ray is an award-winning writer and advocate for women’s travel, with a focus on women over 50. In addition to managing an editorial team of 12 writers and the Soul of Travel podcast, she also hosts the world’s largest Women’s Travel Directory to connect women travellers with women-owned businesses, including hundreds of verified women-friendly tours, retreats, small ships and accommodations.
As the CEO of JourneyWoman, the world’s first and largest women’s solo travel publication (established in 1994), Carolyn leads a thriving community of over 100,000+ women 50+ around the world, a Women Over 50 Speaker’s Bureau, a women’s travel book club, webinars. A frequent speaker at women’s travel events and travel media events, she also leads a consulting practice to help travel businesses and tourism boards adapt to women’s travel.
She is the Chair of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) in Canada, and in September 2023, was the recipient of a SATW Award for Best Service Story in Canada. She is also a member of the Travel Media Association of Canada, Women Travel Leaders and a TTC Herald (Transformational Travel Council).
